“Everything is connected. Concern for the environment thus needs to be joined to a sincere love for our fellow human beings and an unwavering commitment to resolving the problems of society.” (Laudato Si' 91)
During these difficult times we are especially aware that "everything is connected." We invite you to continue the prayer and actions of love for your fellow neighbors by celebrating Laudato Si' Week!
What is Laudato Si Week? On May 24, 2015 Pope Francis released his first encyclical, Laudato Si’, on Care for Our Common Home. This year is the fifth anniversary of the release, and the worldwide Catholic Church is marking this occasion with virtual events and prayer during the dates of May 16-24, called Laudato Si’ Week. The theme is "Everything is connected."
What can I do?
The Global Catholic Climate Movement (coordinators of Laudato Si' Week) encourage us to "come together as one people around the world to prayerfully discern the lessons of this moment....[to] reflect and prepare to build a better world." We've compiled some ideas below!
Anything else going on with ArchIndy Creation Care Ministry? So glad you asked! In a few weeks, we are starting a "online" version of the
Living Laudato Si' Sustainability Program for parishes and schools in the Archdiocese. The program (free) includes parish energy assessments, education sessions, and sustainability planning. We have spots open - contact us at
mail@ourcommonhome.org if your parish or school is interested!
May your day be filled with peace!
