2019 was an exciting year for Creation Care in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis! We embarked on some new adventures with you and have more in store for 2020. Here's a recap and a look at the year ahead.

Living Laudato Si' Sustainability Program

In summer of 2019, 4 parishes and one high school participated in a pilot sustainability program with energy audits, community events, and faith and environmental learning sessions.

ArchIndy Creation Care Commission celebrates 5 years

Did you know? The Creation Care Commission of the Archdiocese of started as a formal ministry just prior to Pope Francis’ publication of his encyclical Laudato Si' in May of 2015 under then Archbishop Joseph Tobin.

What's in store for 2020?

2020 is a very big year for creation care celebrations!

We are in the process of working on sustainability goals, programs, and ways to support creation ministry in the parishes this year. As we plan, here are some dates to keep in mind:

April 22: 50th anniversary of Earth Day
May 16 - 24: Laudato Si' week (from Global Catholic Climate Movement)
May 24: 5th anniversary of the release of Laudato Si'
September 1 - October 4: Season of Creation
